YOUR BIRTH DETAILS · 3 MIN READ
Why your birth time adds another layer.
A birthday is a useful beginning. In a Four Pillars reading, the hour adds another part to the traditional chart.
An additional pillar
Traditional Chinese timekeeping groups the day into twelve two-hour periods. The hour pillar is interpreted alongside the year, month, and day. It is one part of the whole, rather than a more important replacement for the others.
When you do not know the time
Choose Time unknown instead of guessing. A reading with incomplete information has limitations; it should not present hour-specific detail as certain. If you later find a reliable birth record, you can use that information for a new reading.
Place and precision
Birthplace provides context for interpreting local time. Enter the city and country as accurately as you can. Our input suggestions are a convenience, not a confirmation that a location or historical time-zone correction has been verified.
